Who I am

I'm your new guru.

I'll tell you exactly what to do, and you'll be my disciple forever.

Or not.

I've always had a problem with organized religion. With dogma, with “don't think about it, just do as you're told.” And I've always been fascinated by the world of meditation and Buddhism — a method for getting underneath what we imagine about the world and ourselves.

I don't see meditation as a way to improve your life. That's a side effect. It's a microscope: you look under the surface and find out what's actually there.

Buddhism and meditation usually get sold as relief from suffering. There is suffering, so let's remove it — and we'll all be happier and more well-rounded. It works. It's functional.

But that was never what pulled me. What drives me is a need to understand. To look. The inner life of reality is a world that never ends — and I want to explore it. I want to see what's behind my feelings. What's behind everything.

That's my engine. And that's exactly what I can offer.

Teachers and practice

I've been meditating since I was twelve. My teachers are Vincent Horn and Emily Horn — I went through teacher training with them. Many others helped along the way, Hokai Sobol among them.

Besides all that, I make films and ride the tram.

Complete Nothing is a record of my path.

And an invitation to anyone who wants to share theirs.
